{1865 - 2015}

The Redemptorists arrived in England in 1843

and then 22 years after, in 1865, were made a province in their own right.

We are delighted at this sequicentenary of the Province, and we ask you to

please join us in grateful prayer as we thank

our Most Holy Redeemer

for bringing us to this day!

As the 24th of May is also Pentecost Sunday,

we are sure the Holy Spirit pours blessings and graces upon us.

Please also pray for Redemptorist Vocations for this part of the world,

that we can continue to minister as God wants!

More will be written celebrate the past 150 years of Redemptorist Missionary endevour!

For the time being we simply ponder, pray and celebrate!

Here is to the next 150.....

The following is from one of our history books,

"On the 24th May 1865 the Father General CSsR established the Province, naming Fr Coffin CSsR as the first provincial superior. Clapham, the oldest surving foundation, was chosen as the residence of the new Superior, and thus St. Mary's became a new title the Mother House of the Province."

History of St Mary's Clapham, by Rev George Stebbing CSsR, Sands and Co., Covent Garden 1935

We ask our Mother of Perpetual Succour to continue watching over the Province.
