Feast of St Mary Magdalena
St. Mary Magdalena's Feast Day...
This day used to be a day of recreation for our communities, who would celebrate Mary Magdalena.
Why?
Well she was the first person to have encountered the Lord after the crucifixion
and therefore the first person who announced
the news of the Resurrection!

St Mary Magdalena - Pray for us!

John Paul Centre - Middlesbrough
The John Paul Centre - Middlesbrough...
The Middlesbrough community made sure the devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help was nourished this year by their novena, led by Fr Brendan O'Rourke C.Ss.R., a Redemptorist preacher from Ireland.

Fr. Brendan O'Rourke C.Ss.R., is pictured by the shrine.

In these two photos we see Fr. Andy Burns C.Ss.R., cutting a cake...

Look closer and you'll see the face of Blessed John Paul II!
The centre marked the Beatification with a mass of thanksgiving on the 13th of May,
as this was the anniversary of John Paul's assassination attempt, and also the feast of Our Lady of Fatima.
Everyone received a commemorative card to remember the day by.
After the mass, the celebrations continued with a glass of wine and a cake!

Clapham's new parish priest

Mission in Sevenoaks
Mission in Sevenoaks...
'Discovering God', this banner will hang over the sanctuary for the mission week. Various groups have been working for months to make this week a wonderful success. Judging by the turn out at the opening event, it is sure to be so.
The first night 'Discovering Healing - Restoring Hope'touched many people’s hearts, while the early mass is proving popular with many folk, a free breakfast thrown in before boarding the trains to London. Later in the week the school have organised a Eucharistic Procession to celebrate Corpus Christi. Members of the new 'Ordinariate' are also joining in the mission celebrations.
Browse a few pictures of our celebrations so far, including Fr Charlie Corrigan, Fr. Kieran Brady & Fr. Richard Harvey PP getting some sun. May this week be a time of prayer and growth in the parish of Sevenoaks, as the parish mission prayer book quotes:
Protect us O Lord, from thoughts without action.
Guard us O Lord, from words without feelings.
Defend us O Lord, from ideas without results and
surround us with Your Presence.
