Corpus Christi Procession - Liverpool

Our Liverpool Parishes (Bishop Eton & St. Mary's) form part of the pastoral area of St. Therese of Lisieux. As part of the  Year of Mercy all the Parishes within the Pastoral Area are organising  an event. 

The first event took place on Divine Mercy Sunday organised by the Parish of Christ the King & St. Mary's 

The feast of Corpus Christi saw the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption organise a Blessed Sacrament Procession and Benediction Service at Hope University. The children of the Pastoral Area who had just made their First Holy Communion were invited to take part. The Knights of St. Columba had the honour of carrying the Eucharistic canopy.

As the procession began the musicians led the congregation in singing I am the bread of life.

A period of Eucharistic Adoration in Hope University Chapel

Once the procession reached the chapel and the Blessed Sacrament had been placed on the altar, all were invited to kneel and join in singing - Let all that is within me cry holy. There then followed a period of silent adoration, liturgy of the word, a litany of mercy, incensing of the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic blessing. Once the Blessed Sacrament had been reposed Father Grant Maddock (the dean of the pastoral area) and the First Holy Communicants led the singing of  the final hymn 'His banner over me is love'  

The next parish to host a year of Mercy event will be Bishop Eton. All the pastoral area parishes will be invited to the celebration of the Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Succour on June 27th. The feast day will also mark the end of this years Solemn Novena which will take place at the parishes at Bishop Eton and St. Mary's Woolton.
