Saint (Pope) Paul VI and the Redemptorists...

paul vi

From the spontaneous address given by (Saint) Pope Paul VI at the Redemptorist General Chapter 1973...spoken in Italian after the formal address in Latin.

"And finally, dearest sons, you have a qualification that distinguishes and specializes you in the Church of God.

You continue the school of morality, or religious ethics, of Moral Theology, of which your Founder St. Alphonsus has left you such magnificent works, with his command to you to pass on this heritage, saying: “Continue."

...Be good pastors. As we said before, get close to souls in the sacred ministry, especially in the hearing of confessions, and you will find out how much indulgence is necessary, how much, I would say, "elasticity" the Law of God itself is capable of assuming, for the very purpose of adapting itself to the weaknesses and requirements of man's human condition. Courage!

As we have said in our short discourse, take your vocation very, very seriously. It is a tremendous and unique grace that God has granted you, to be committed by your dedication in the religious life to the service of God, and also to the service of the neighbour - of the people of our time."

Entrusting Mission to the Venerable Margaret Sinclair...

Fr Royston Price CSsR and Fr Peter Morris CSsR

recently went to a church in Edinburgh,

(very special to the Redemptorists who were there for many a year),

and prayed and entrusted the Mission beginning in Corstorphine, Edinburgh.

The picture shows the Fathers kneeling in prayer

at Ven Margaret Sinclair's tomb, St Patrick's Parish Church, Edinburgh.

Please pray for the Mission going on just now!

The Redemptorists who were in the community at the time,

Fr Ed Hone, Michael Henesy, Richard Reid and Dominic O'Toole CSsR

had the privilege of exhuming the Venerable Margaret's body

from one of the city's cemeteries and reburied her in this

newly humed grave in the

Church of St Patrick's in the Cowgate in Edinburgh,

Margaret's home parish.

Closing Mass Holy Trinity College Harare...

After 20 years of being established Holy Trinity College Harare

came to its Closing Mass on the 17th May 2024.

It was a proud day for the College and Catholicism in Zimbabwe.

It was also a sad day as the three founding orders,

Carmelites, Franciscans and Redemptorists

will now go their seperate ways.

Our students will now study in Kenya with their confreres

from South Africa and Kenya.

There is so much to say thank you but we would like to especially mention the

Sisters of Nazareth who so graciously gave half of Nazareth House

and allowed it to be named Holy Trinity!

God bless Holy Trinity College

and all who served, taught  and learned there!

Pentecost 2024...

spirit dove

You are fire; enkindle in me your love.

You are light; enlighten my mind with the knowledge of eternal things.

You are the Dove;
give me innocence of life.

You are the gentle Breeze;
disperse the storms of my passions.

You are the Tongue;
teach me how to bless you always.

You are the Cloud;
shelter me under the shadow of your protection.

And lastly,  You are the Giver of all heavenly gifts;

animate me, I beseech you, with your grace;

sanctify me with your charity;

enlighten me with your wisdom;

adopt me by your goodness as your child,

and save me in your infinite mercy;

so that I may ever bless you, praise you, and love you;

first during this life on earth,

and then in heaven for all eternity.

Amen.

Frs Peter Morris and Casper Simba Mukabva CSsR

Fr Peter Morris CSsR writes about the recent Mission in Dunstable...

A privilege to have preached a parish mission at St Mary's, Dunstable. First time preaching on a mission with my confrere, Fr Casper Mukabva CSsR. Fr Tony Brennan was such a gracious host. The people responded so well to the message. We have heard that one person experienced physical healing. Among the positive feedback:

"The mission week was very enriching and I hope to take a

more active part in my parish. You have inspired me!"

God is good!
