Fr Victor Bushu CSsR finishes his Studies in Rome...

Fr Victor Bushu CSsR went to St Anslem's in Rome to participate in a course for Human Formation and Development. He is now in Clapham CSsR and preparing to go home to Zimbabwe after being away since September!

Here are few pictures of the closing Mass bringing the Academic year to a close. Fr Victor, voted in by the whole Student Body, gave the Speech of Gratitude.

Fr Philip CSsR leaves the Carmelite Nuns after 15yrs as Chaplain...

As the Nuns themselves say...

"And now it is time for us to say thank you to Father Philip! After fifteen years of faithful sevice as our chaplain, he left yesterday for a well-earned retirement in the house of his Redemptorist Order in Liverpool. During all his time with us, he never failed to celebrate Mass for us, and never went on holiday unless he was sure he had found us a replacement chaplain.

Father Philip is a man of great learning. He taught in Maryvale for many years, and is an authority on Phenomenology. But he was just as interested in developing new strains of irises, and spent a lot of time working in our garden. Here, in no particular order, are photos of Father Philip’s last Sunday Mass with us, the party afterwards, us sisters saying goodbye yesterday, and some of Father’s own irises. Our grateful prayers go with him to Liverpool. Thank you Father Philip!"

Meditation on the Blessed Sacrament

Meditation, wherever it is made,
pleases God.
But it seems that Jesus
especially delights in prayer
made before the Blessed Sacrament.
Did he not leave himself for us
in this sacrament
to be food for our spirit,
and to be present
for all who seek him?

We cannot all make pilgrimages
to the places where Jesus lived,
but the Lord who died for us
on the cross of Calvary
now dwells in person,
in the tabernacle – waiting.
We need not await a command
as we would of an earthly king,
to enter his presence –
He is waiting for us
to lay before him our wants
and to seek his help.

So that we may taste
the sweetness of his presence,
it is good to empty ourselves
of earthly desires.
Be still and know
That I am God. Psalm 46: 10
What pleasure is found in spending
a long time before the altar
where the Lord dwells!
What heavenly sweetness the Lord
allows us to taste and enjoy!

Pope Francis gives Apostolic Blessing to our Catechist!..

onto one of our Catechists

in St Mary's Redemptorist Church Clapham London.

Madge Vernon

was absolutley surpirsed when this award was made

at the end of the First Holy Communion Mass.

We thank God for Madge's many decades

working away quietly in the background.

She is an amazing servant to the Parish

and will do whatever is needed to be done.

Fr Philip Jones CSsR retires after many years of service...

Yesterday (Pentecost Sunday) there was another non liturgical celebration at Dysart Monastery in Fife as the Nuns said

goodbye, thank you and God bless to

Fr Philip Jones CSsR,

their Chaplain who has now retired.

Fr Philip was their Chaplain for 14 years and he served them very well.

We thank God for his ministry and for the lives of the Carmelite Nuns in the community there.

He now goes to Bishop Eton Monastery in Liverpool where he will join the Redemptorist community.

Solemnity of Pentecost 2023...

You are fire; enkindle in me your love.

You are light; enlighten my mind with the knowledge of eternal things.

You are the Dove;  give me innocence of life.

You are the gentle Breeze;  disperse the storms of my passions.

You are the Tongue;  teach me how to bless you always.

You are the Cloud;  shelter me under the shadow of your protection.

And lastly, You are the Giver of all heavenly gifts;  animate me,

I beseech you, with your grace;  sanctify me

with your charity;  enlighten me

with your wisdom;  adopt me by your goodness as your child,

and save me in your infinite mercy;

so that I may ever bless you, praise you, and love you;

first during this life on earth,

and then in heaven for all eternity.

Congratulations Cosmo Emanuel Denis Nizinskyj...

Paul and Giselle Nizinskyj, who have been part of the Garden Mass from Redemptorist Publications from the beginning over three years ago, had their baby baptised in the Catholic Ukrainian Cathedral in London.

He was baptised Cosmo Emanuel Denis.

Fr Denis McBride, C.Ss.R. was delighted to be a godfather and concelebrate the Mass.
